Standing in the midst of chaos and corruption, the Christian is called in the postmodern social order to suffer violence in silence, while God’s kingdom is destroyed by fear, waste and murderous gasoline. The followers of Jesus stand idly as the neo-conservative followers of the Nazarene Revolutionary defy the Gospels with political and nationalistic ideal. It is as if modern man, the modern Christian man, is placing God in abound box that disallows God to be God.
Thomas Merton says this of the modern Christian man:
I do not understand those men of war
            Strong and proud
            Rich and fat
            The more they have
            The more they hate
And hate rolls down their skin
Like drops of sweat (Thomas Merton, 160)
